The start of our Patagonia Adventure

This was an amazing trip from start to finish--we traveled to Iguassu Falls, all the way through Patagonia to Cape Horn and then over to Easter Island!

This is our second trip with OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel).  We chose them because we had such a wonderful experience on our first trip....Ultimate Africa.  We especially like the small tour groups, but with big discoveries.  We go off the beaten path and see more of the world and experience authentic glimpses of local culture with trip leaders who make the traditions, history, and culture of their homeland come alive for us.

Our adventure started on January 24 when we departed the U.S. for an overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

We arrived about 7:30 am and an OAT representative was there to whisk us away to our hotel, the Arc Recoleta Boutique Hotel.

We were able to check in and rest a bit before meeting our fellow travelers and trip leader, Nelson Torres.

Nelson gave us the ins and outs of surviving as a tourist in Buenos Aires, led us to a money exchange office to obtain some Argentina pesos, and gave us a quick orientation walk around the area.

We then had the afternoon and evening free to explore on our own or just rest up from a long day of travel.  We joined 2 others from our group for a pizza lunch where we met Tevinson from Nigeria as our waiter.  He was a lot of fun and we had our picture taken with him.

Buenos Aires is the largest city in Argentina, with a population of 15.5 million.  It is considered a melting pot as one of the most diverse cities in Latin America.  We will be back in Buenos Aires in a few days, at which time we will tour the city.

That evening we had a briefing with Nelson, who gave us all the details we needed for our trip to Iguassu Falls the next morning--one of our most favorite places we have ever visited.

So come along and read about our adventure. There are 12 more posts for this trip, each one highlighting what we saw and experienced at each of the various locations.
